These people sure know how to attract people to businesses outside the city, don’t they?

These increases seem to be only for the monthly parkers or if you park in a deck or lot for a few hours to an entire day - like a sales rep. or someone who would come to town to meet with one of the local businesses. Meters aren't affected right now. Just wait until they install the "smart" meters. They think folks don't shop in downtown now... when the meter expires & sends an email to the brownshirt on duty and he makes a B-line to your car to ticket it how likely will you be to visit downtown again? That new deck was over half booked with monthly renters before construction was even half done. I love how they compare us to Scranton and Harrisburg, as if that justifies them needing to up their monthly charges. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Parking is one of the things you and I pointed out as a detriment to downtown development over at the Billtown Boards. The regulars there think it's not a problem. I disagree. Call me lazy, but I hate parking blocks away and walking. Or driving up and down the streets trying to find open parking.
