It's nice to see that something is finally going to take over the old Chi Chi's location. Too bad it's not another restaurant, but at least it won't sit vacant any longer. Northwest Savings Bank is moving from Westminster Drive over to the old Chi Chi's site. They must really be doing well and need to upgrade from that tiny building over there next to the Comfort Inn or maybe the Comfort Inn wanted to buy that little place to expand and the opportunity presented itself so they could move.
Anybody know what the hell is going in up there just beyond Chi Chi's and Aldi's? Brand new construction of what looks like a mini strip mall, but that is a horrible location and orientation I think. All you see from 180 West is the back and side, you can't really see it from the Third St. side. I haven't seen any indications as to what is going in there. Something nice hopefully that will make folks seek it out way back there.

I was wondering what that was too. I wish we'd get a little more variety in the area for restaurants. Red Robin and either a Golden Corral or Old Country Buffet would be nice.

I'll vote for a Golden Corral.

There's no parking, at least it looks that way from 180, back in there by that new construction. It's hard to get a good look while zooming past on the interstate, but it looks like they had to build a funky little wall around that one house that's there too. Too small a lot to properly build something, so they made it fit regardless is what it looks like.
I'd like to see us get a Sonic. They're neat for a different experience once in a while and for cold treats. I've gone to the couple out Wilkes-Barre way and really like them; then seeing their commercials and saying ooohh, that looks good, and not being able to go try it sucks.

Saw them putting up the sign for Fagnano's Pools there at the new construction up behind Aldi's yesterday. I guess he is moving from down there in the TJ Maxx plaza - maybe he owns that new building and will save on rent. Anyhow, the location, lack of parking, and odd building placement probably won't be a deterrent for his shop, I think most of his business is by phone and involves pool repair, cleanings, open/close for the season type thing. Of course he's only one part of that new building so it's wait and see what else fills the other spot up there. Fagnano's Tasty Pastry's in South Williamsport (across from the CVS plaza) closed up shop recently, but I can't see her making a go of it back in there if a busy street like Southern Ave. didn't work out.
