I’ve always been a fan of the original series. The follow ons were OK, but they just didn’t measure up IMHO.

Yep. A lot of timeless material came from that series.
I laugh every Saturday when I remember to put on WILQ in the morning. The Saturday dude on the air has a montage of Star Trek sound bites he plays during the break at least once during his shift. I think he must switch it up from week to week because one week he'll play one with Dr. McCoy spouting off to Jim "He'd dead Jim" over and over again, then sometimes I hear one with Spock saying "fascinating" several different ways. Nice to know there are still folks who like the old show.
